Polish Kielbasa with Onions, Apples and Sauerkraut
Serves 6
Cook time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
1 pound Kayem Polish Kielbasa
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 cups white onion, sliced
1 Granny Smith apple, diced 1/2”
2 cups sauerkraut, low sodium
1/2 cup white wine
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco
Directions
-
Cut the Kayem Polish Kielbasa into 6 equal pieces on the diagonal.
-
Coat a 12" skillet with olive oil, and brown the kielbasa over medium high heat, about 1 minute per side. Remove and place in ovenproof casserole.
-
Return the skillet to the stove and brown the onions for 5 minutes. Toss in the apples, sauté for 1–2 minutes. Add the Sauerkraut, heat thoroughly. Add white wine and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes. Season with salt and Tabasco.
-
Transfer the onion mixture over the kielbasa, cover and bake for 20 minutes.
-
Serve over mashed potatoes.
Grilling Tip
DO use tongs. DON'T pierce the casing. When you lose the juice, you lose the flavor!
