Kayem Kielbasa, plated

Serves 6

Cook time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

1 pound Kayem Polish Kielbasa

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

2 cups white onion, sliced

1 Granny Smith apple, diced 1/2”

2 cups sauerkraut, low sodium

1/2 cup white wine

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon Tabasco

Directions

  1. Cut the Kayem Polish Kielbasa into 6 equal pieces on the diagonal.

  2. Coat a 12" skillet with olive oil, and brown the kielbasa over medium high heat, about 1 minute per side. Remove and place in ovenproof casserole.

  3. Return the skillet to the stove and brown the onions for 5 minutes. Toss in the apples, sauté for 1–2 minutes. Add the Sauerkraut, heat thoroughly. Add white wine and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes. Season with salt and Tabasco.

  4. Transfer the onion mixture over the kielbasa, cover and bake for 20 minutes.

  5. Serve over mashed potatoes.

Grilling Tip

DO use tongs. DON'T pierce the casing. When you lose the juice, you lose the flavor!
