Old Tyme Red Dogs With Broccoli Slaw

Serves 6

Cook time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

1 12 ounce package Kayem Old Tyme Natural Casing Reds

1/2 pound broccoli slaw mix (readily available in the produce section of supermarkets)

1/4 cup coleslaw dressing

1 tablespoon red onion, finely chopped

1 1/2 teaspoons horseradish

1/4 cup dried cranberries

1 tablespoon sunflower seeds

6 hot dog buns

1 tablespoon butter

Directions

  1. In a small mixing bowl, combine the broccoli slaw mix with the coleslaw dressing, chopped red onion, horseradish, cranberries and sunflower seeds. Mix well, set aside.
  2. Place a medium sauce pan filled halfway with water over medium-high heat and heat the Kayem Old Tyme Reds for 5 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile in a large skillet, using medium-high heat, melt the butter and toast the hot dog buns until lightly browned on both sides.
  4. Place the heated red dogs in the buns and top with the broccoli slaw. Serve immediately.

Grilling Tip

DO use tongs. DON'T pierce the casing. When you lose the juice, you lose the flavor!
