Price Chopper and Kayem Foods partner in the fight against Breast Cancer
Chelsea, MA, October 2, 2008—Kayem Foods, one of the Northeast's leading brands, is pleased to announce it will donate ten percent of all proceeds from specially marked packages of Kayem Old Tyme Natural Casing Franks to the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer program.
This program, which will take place during the month of October, will be presented to customers at all Price Chopper locations across the Northeast. Kayem is pleased to partner with Price Chopper on this endeavor.
Ray Monkiewicz, President of Kayem Foods, commented, “Kayem has been a part of the Northeast economy for 100 years, and we committed to giving back to local communities. Unfortunately, the need for breast cancer research remains a critical issue to families across the country. By raising funds, Kayem hopes to help advance this tremendously important research.”
“As ardent supporters of breast cancer research, prevention and treatment services, Price Chopper is thrilled to partner with Kayem during Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” said Price Chopper's Vice President of Public Relations and Consumer Services, Mona Golub. “In the midst of our annual chain-wide ‘Making Strides Against Breast Cancer' campaign and private label initiative, which, in selling specially-labeled Price Chopper brand products, raises $250,000 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, we are delighted to promote Kayem items that also donate a portion of their proceeds to breast cancer research,” she added.
Kayem's participation in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer program is part of the larger “Kayem Cares” campaign to support local community organizations and worthwhile programs. “Kayem Cares” is helping neighborhoods and programs across the Northeast in an effort to give back to the communities that support them. Kayem will also participate in the October Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Boston.
Breast cancer strikes over 200,000 women every year and advances in research can help catch breast cancer at an early stage, enhance treatment, and continue the search for the cure. The funds raised from Making Strides Against Breast Cancer has given more in breast cancer research grants over time than any other voluntary public health organization. They strive to provide free programs and services to improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their families in more than 3,400 communities across the country.
